Hello my Beauties,
it happened again! This past weekend there was a big town & country festival in Berlin. It took place, like many other big open air events these days, on the former Tempelhof city airport, which had a leading role in the Cold War and was shut down in 2008.
Last year the city of Berlin decided to hold a big kite “summer-ending” event, which seemingly attracted over 40,000 visitors. Probably those numbers were crucial for the follow-up this year.
There was a big stage show with different musical acts, numerous of gigantic dragons, bouncy castles for the little ones and a lot of food stations.
What stuck out the most, when i arrived there, was besides the beautiful sundown, the fact that there was classical opera music playing over the whole field. And it was live! Have you ever experienced a festival of this format, where there performed opera music for the big crowd?! How extraordinary!
From afar it definitely looked like a town full of aliens, with flying saucers and weird-looking buildings.
But coming closer revealed what kind of beautiful aliens were flying around there. A big colorful butterfly, Mr.Gingerbread Man, as well as a Smurfette and a heart.
After walking over the big field, i got a little hungry and decided to check out the food offer.
There was a big variety to pick from. 1 meter sausages and fries, risolle, crepe, chinese, pizza, beer and cocktails and a lot of sweets.
The pizza booth looked the best and it had the longest line. That was definitely a good sign for the freshness & taste.
Besides i’ve noticed there were guys preparing the dough fresh and all the toppings looked pretty delicious. So a long line and 4 euro later i got myself a mushroom and cheese slice.
It was time to sit down, enjoy my pizza, the music – by now they switched from Opera to Queen and “We are the champions” was playing. That’s when the fireworks started. So unexpected and loud. And suddenly is started smelling like New Years…
After the fireworks was over, i felt the urge of getting something sweet.
Guess what i got? Something that i haven’t had in many years…See for yourself.
Well, who would have thought that cotton candy can make you smile like that?! 😉
I’m glad i went with this spontaneous idea of visiting the festival. It was so much fun. And a great summer ending party.
Thanks for coming along.
