Hello my Beauties,
as many of you know, i love my metallics when it comes to nail polish, but also for my eye looks.
And now during the fall season it’s the best way to set accents while picking the right outfit or creating a makeup look. Besides all the usual deep red, brown and orange colors – metallics are definite must-haves, at least in my opinion.
First of all – the look (packaging):
Let’s be honest. If you ever seen the Urban Decay 24-7Glide-On Eye Pencils or the Sephora Flashy liners, you will agree with me that the Milani pencils don’t look cheap at all. The surface feel smooth and nice in your hand and the fact that it comes with 0.04 oz /1.2g of product makes it a regular pencil size.
Also great is the fact that it comes in a separated sealed cardboard/plastic packaging, so you can be sure, no one touched your product before. I know it’s mostly a given fact in the States to sell all the beauty products that way, but in Europe it’s definitely different, which i find extremely annoying, since often products like lipsticks or eyeshadow palettes hold dabs from unknown people by the time i have the chance to grab it from the shelfs.
It’s that special kind of antique gold, which is pretty much toned down, instead of being that flashy yellow, that you might expect, when someone says: gold.
I think the fact that it’s not too bright makes this kind of gold quite wearable on the daily basis.
It complements very well my grey-blue-greenish eyes and i got some sweet feedback too while wearing the liner. (Sorry can’t tell more exactly about the eye color. They just alternate depending on the light conditions. But i guess you get the picture.)
Texture & Staying power:
The texture is very smooth and the pencil glides over your lid in a butter-like motion. It definitely lifts up to the expectation of “smooth application”. I can tell that the color pay-off is pretty great, since most of the time i don’t need to go over the same spot twice to get the needed result.
The color doesn’t fade for over 6-7 hours and it stays in place, even more over a primer.
I’m not exactly sure about the “all day wear” though – especially if you have oily lids, but what i personally enjoyed is wearing it on my waterline ( which is usually quite a sensitive area ) for over 3-4 hours and it didn’t go anywhere.
If the rest of your eye look is pretty basic and natural, this gold liner is for sure going to give a nice pop of color.
As you can see in the swatch i like to either wear the liner alone or in combination with other metallics or black (in form of eye shadow or also a liner). I admit, i like pairing metallic…don’t judge!
Overall this could be a great “dupe” for any mentioned expensive liners and simply a nice metallic pencil for this fall. I don’t think you can go wrong with approximately $6.99.
And besides the line has also other colors to offer, like Graphite, Perfect Purple or Aqua.
Check out Milani’s LIQUID EYE range.
In case you don’t have a Milani store near you (that’s the case for me), i have found several sellers on Amazon and i’m sure you will discover a few easily.
Q: What’s your holy eye liner grail for the fall season? Are you a metallic girl or do you prefer nude looks?
Until next time – stay beautiful.
